AFFIRMED.

My name is Lau Moon and I was a seaman employed on

board the "Kwong Tung" at the time of the casualty. A

my

I enquired what was

little after 7.0 P.M. I was in/quarters forward and I

heard a noise made by passengers.

wrong and was informed that a fire had broken out in the

after part of the ship. Some passengers rushed into our

quarters and I directed them to go up on deck by means of

the forward stairway. I went to the fire box on the

boat deck forward but I found a hose already connected.

As it was too far from the fire I disconnected it and

took the hose to the upper deck. I helped Chan Sing Yau

to put the hose over the side. Only Chan Sing Yau went

over the side. After a little while the fire was ex-

tinguished-@ay in about 15 minutes.

I saw no fire but a lot of yellowish smoke.

The smoke nad an obnoxious smell.

The foregoing is a true reca d

of the evidence I have given.

Sd. Lau Moon.
